Retrofit or a replacment cam?? Help

Engine: 6.3L, heads, headers, cam,.....
Transmission: 700-R4 w/shift kit and 3-4 WOT kit
Axle/Gears: 4.11
Retrofit or a replacment cam?? Help
Ok you guys I got another question,
My question is about two cams. They are both form compcams. The part numbers are sk12-430-8 (Retro fit Roller Cam) and sk-08-430-8 (87-98 originally quipped with hydraulic roller camshaft except lt1 and lt4). I know that this may be a dumb question but I do not know what cam to get. The grinds are the same on both cams. I am building a 91' Chevy 350 block out of a Camaro. I know that it originally came with a roller camshaft. My question is if I get the retro fit roller cam will I have any problems or should I get the replacement. The main reason that I am asking is because I have a 383 rotating assembly (3.75 stroke x 4.060 bore) and has 6" rods. Will I run into any clearance issues with the cam and rods. So just to clarify I just want to know what cam I should get the retro fit or the replacement. And will it hurt and/or require more work (machining) to get the retro cam to fit?

Get the replacement. Retrofits have slight differences. This way you can also run your current roller lifters.
What type of rods are they, do they have capscrews? If not you might want to go ahead and get a small base circle cam, so if it hits you don't have to buy another.

Thanks for giving back to me. First off I am going to have to admit that I do not know what you mean by the rods having capscrews. I dont know if this is going to help but I am going to be buying an cam kit that includes cam, lifters, and timing chain. And my second question is about the small base circle cam. What is it and what is the difference. I am also wondering if the small base circle cam offers cams similar to the ones I was looking at for my car. And how do I identify small base circle cams when looking at a catalog because, I do not recall seeing a small base circle cam. The two cams that I was looking at have:

The rod cap is held on by the rod bolts, which can either be a nut and bolt like on stock rods, or the rod itself can be threaded to just take a bolt, called a capscrew. This usually gives more clearance between the rod and cam lobes.
A small base circle cam is a cam that's exactly the same, but the "base circle" that the lobes rise out of is smaller, so that the lobes themselves don't need to stick out as far to get the same lift. This also gives more clearance. Small base circle cams are fairly common, but they're not usually listed in the catalog. You can phone and have one custom ground though.
