I JUST TOOK MY 88 GTA TO A SHOP TO GET MY OIL CHANGED. I PROVIDED MY OWN OIL AND FILTER. I WAS SUSPICIOUS OF THE BUSINESS SO WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR I SAID I WANT TO SEE THE EMPTY OIL BOTTLES. THERE WERE ONLY 4 QUARTS, I HAD BOUGHT 5. I KNOW DAMN WELL THAT IT TAKES 5 QUARTS SO I SAY WHERE THE HELL IS MY OTHER QUART. HE SAYS, OH I DONT KNOW, I PUT IN ALL 5 THOUGH. SO I CHECK OIL AND ITS A QUART LOW. HE SAYS, SOMETIMES THESE CARS TAKE 6 QUARTS, I'LL GO BUY YOU A NEW ONE AT THE SHOP NEXT DOOR. SO HE ADDS THE OTHER QUART AND ITS FINE. I KNOW DAMN WELL THAT CAR DOES NOT HOLD 6 QUARTS, CAN I PLEASE BE VERIFIED BEFORE I REPORT THE COMPANY?

 

I always put 5 qts. in and I'm fine. I've heard of some people using 5.5 qts. I would suggest changing your own oil. If it's the fact that you have never done it then have some one show you, it's very easy, and I'm not mechanically inclined and can do it.

The cars generally only hold 5 quarts, but I think you can get a bigger filter to up the capacity some.

up, i said i need a quick easy question and got no relays to it after having on the top of the board for 3 days. as far as i know we only hold 5.

 

I USED A FRAM EXTRA GUARD FILTER

 

Fram... Ewww...

Don't buy Fram again... next oil change buy a different filter and change the oil yourself...

Fram = junk.

I used to change oil at a lube station. Some of those guys get pretty lazy and don't do what they say. With a fram filter in my L98 five quarts always filled it. The Chiltons and Haynes manuals both say 5gts with filter if that helps

 

My L98 with all of my mods holds almost 6 quarts.... I always put it a hair over the full line though.... don't want to starve that M55HV.........
