Gas-Pedal Goes "THUNK"
Gas-Pedal Goes "THUNK"
hey howdy hello, for any that recall my overheat problem - it turned out to be the water pump seals. overcoming my genetics and all the teachings of my ancestors, I successfully replaced it and now all is good. but wait, theres more:
Car drove great for about 2 weeks after I replaced the water pump. A little bit of a "dirty" smell here and there, that I kinda thought was some garbage in the cat or something along those lines. a very distinct sort of "clogged" odor.
Anyway, thats not the problem. here it is:
Now, RANDOMLY (only happened 5 times in the last 2 or 3 days) when I hit the accelerator aggresively (read, more than just tapping the edge) I'll hear a "thunk, thunk" coming from the general area of my firewall, in the bottom left near the driver-side wheel. I'll loose power for a second in the car (engine won't race, just continues to hum along until the power comes back a second later) - the one time I got it to happen for more than a second or so, the pedal felt, well, disconnected. very light.
Any thoughts? is it possible i've got a loose cable or something? I'm really hoping its not a transmission problem.
Thanks for reading my ramblings, and I sure do appreciate any help y'all can give me.
Phil

That type of noise could be a number of things. I had a similar sound from the front of the car and it turned out to be a broken fron swaybar endlink. Could be a number of things though. I'd look to the motor mounts first.
