Oil & Oil Filter

Would you suggest I use synthetic oil in my 92 RS, it has 114,000 miles. I bought it about a month ago and I was just wondering what oil & oil filter to use. Currently the car has no visible leaks.

Stay away from Fram, just buy an AC Delco one. Currently I am using a Fram because that's all Wal-Mart had at the time, but next oil change I am going to buy several AC Delco filters. It will be more important for you to change your oil on a consistent basis than to switch to synthetic. Personally I use Mobil 1 synthetic.

I'd say change to synthetic. You'll reduce friction between the components in your engine, helping to prevent wear between components. Furthermore, synthetics are more versatile. They flow better hot and cold, and are more resistent to thermal breakdown. Basically if your car is running hot, that synthetic will protect better. On a cold day, the synthetic will flow easier than regular, lubricating the engine better and earlier than a regular oil. There's really no reason not to switch to a synthetic besides cost.

Also, synthetic does not cause leaks or make them worse. Since it flows better, it'll find it's way through a small leak much faster and probably more regularly than regular oil.
