What should my Oil Gauge read @ 2000 RPM?

I don't think the oil pressure gauge is right on my 89 2.8 Firebird

What should the reading be when the engine is at 2000 RPMs?

also is it ok for it move with RPM? as in, go low with idle and back up with higer RPMs?

10psi/1000rpm is the universal "still ok" IIRC.

Yes, it should go up higher with the RPMs since the oil pump is cam-driven.

At 2000rpm you should have 40 to 70PSI.

The oil pressure will be highest when the engine is cold and will drop when the motor is warmed up.

At idle you need enough oil pressure to keep the hyd lifters quiet. 10 to 20PSi is enough.
yes the oil pressure will flucuate as you rev the motor but should be in that range.
