Hello folks, well to the point I am trying to check out my Evaporative Emmisions Control System (EECS) the filter inside of it of course, however I am having a hard time disconnecting the hoses attached to it....
Is there a special trick to break these hoses loose because I have fiddled around with it for the past couple of days and nothing is coming loose...
Someone please help me

If they're that bad I just grab pliers or screwdriver and force them off ... and replace with nice brand new ones .. and I lube the inside slightly
Just twist and turn .. twist and turn

Cut a slit in the end that's attached then use a flat head screwdriver, knife, or whatever's available and work the hose loose from the fitting it's stuck to.
Petro Jelly works well to keep it from happening again.

You're talking about the black canister? If so, I'm pretty sure your canister is permanantly sealed. No filter changing. You'll need to replace the whole unit. Unless they used 2 different models in 91. Mine is sealed. In the process of buying a new one so the system functions properly again. They run about... 50-60 dollars. Napa and Advance Auto came up with them in stock, the other stores no such luck.
As for the hoses, cut them off and buy new hoses. They are most likely, as you described, very hard. I believe the exhaust hardens the rubber and/or whatever other gases flow through there. Make sure you get the proper type of hosing and lengths.
