Bad fuel pump testing??????????????

Im still trying to decide if my fuel pump is bad. If you havent seen another post of mine, in short my car wont start NO fuel pressure, NO Pump noise, NEW relay. I just found my Helms shop manuel too. I was going through the No start chart for the fuel system. It says to find the fuel pump test connector and apply 12 volts to it to see if the pump will come on. The book shows me nothing on how to do this. Where is this connector? What does it look like? How do I go about applying 12 volts to it? Can some one explain in detail how to do this. I suck when it comes to electrical parts.

John,

You can test the fuel pump voltage at the fuel pump relay, on the tan/white wire.

When the ignition is OFF, you can supply power to the fuel pump through the 'G' terminal on the ALDL connector under the dash. Find the ALDL:

Connect a jumper wire to the 'G' terminal, then connect the other end of the wire to a 12VDC+ source.

This supplies power directly to the pump, as diagrammed in the schematic.

If the pump will not operate with this method, either the pump has failed or there is a connection problem in the fuel pump circuit. There is a connector at the tank, as well as a ground connection. If all connections are good and the pump terminals at the tank have 12VDC, the pump needs to be removed. Let's hope you find the problem before then.
