Oh crap.. I think I got jipped...

Ok, a while ago I had this problem with an even miss at crusing speed... I took it to a mech and he fixed it, said it was the # 5 injector... well he handed me the injector back...

Thats what I'm holding in my hand right now... when I test it with my DMM, it reads 16-16.1 ohms... thats within the acceptable range..

I just got a complete set from the junkyard, they look pretty good visually, except for some wear and tear and a little bit of rust, but they had been sitting in a plastic bag... when I test them, each one comes out with 11.8-11.9 Ohms... out of the supposed acceptable range...

I'd like to think the set I got from the junkyard is good, but I'm not sure... does anyone know the acceptable Ohm value on low impedance injectors?

There are two sets of numbers on the injectors, I'll give them to you guys and see what you can come up with...

5136 and 5235136

Xeno,

The solenoid coil resistance is only one test of the injector, and says absolutely nothing about how the injector flows, the spray pattern, or even if the pintle is moving (opening) at all.

Bosch injectors (originals) are serviceable between 16½-11½ ohms without placing an unnecessary current load on the switching transistors in the ECM.

Multec and Rochester injectors are servicable down to 8½ ohms. Lucas injectors just plain aren't servicable (they aren't a very good design, and should probably be replaced anyway).

Your 16-ohm injector might be in great electrical condition, but could be completely plugged or mechanically binding/worn to the point of no operation, regardless of the solenoid.

If you have a complete set of used injectors, you might consider sending them off to {url=http://www.cruzinperformance.com]Cruzin' Performance[/url] for evaluation, cleaning, and flow matching. It's a very reasonably priced service and will remove any doubts.

Vader, thank you so much!!! I e-mail Rich at crusin performance and he told me essentially the same thing...

These injectors are being shipped to him -pronto-!!! (As soon as I start my job). I can't wait, I'm so excited.
