Hatch motor

My hatch motor died and I got a replacement but the old motor (when working) would release the hatch and slide to the top of the tracks in the assembly when you released the hatch. When you closed the hatch the assembly would slide down the tracks pulling the hatch fully-closed. Well, I replaced the old motor and when I hooked it up I held down the small lever that makes the motor retract all the way. I closed the hatch and it stays closed and sits right where it's supposed to but when I unlock it the motor assembly does not slide up like it used to. I dunno if it's related or not but the button for the hatch release in my console stopped working as well... I assume there is some sort of connection between the two of those not working but I don't know what to troubleshoot to get them both working again. Blown fuse somewhere maybe? If you guys have any ideas please let me know so I can get those things working again!

Thanks.
