Radiator/trans cool lines: HELP

I acidently snapped off the heater line to the radiator. No big loss radiator was dying anyway. Went to NAPA and got a Modine ($98) Dropped in fine until I got to the last part, attaching the lower trans cooler line. It was nearly impossible to get the hard line to get straight into the rad. Well I seemed to have screwed up the threads on both the radiator and the line. I tried an bolt of the same thread on the rad and it went in fine. I seemed to have crushed the first couple threads of the trans line. What can I do here?

I am going to try and use a nut to repair the threads on the trans line. I was also considering getting a seperate cooler and running soft lines from the old hard lines.

I am sorry if this is incoherent but I have been working on the car for about 12 hours today plus a bunch yesterday, so my mind is turning to slush. I had to force myself to give up for the night. Any ideas would be greatly aprieciated.

Ah, the tranny lines... the only thing which has driven me to put my fist through the garage wall. I think you've got the right idea. You can either run a soft line to an aftermarket cooler, or if you can get a fitting to thread into the radiator, then you could cut off the end of the tranny line, attach a piece of hose to it, and then have another brass fitting come out of the hose and thread into the radiator. The second way would be the cheapest way to do it, if you can get it to work. The brass fittings, hose, and clamps will cost you around $5. In comparison an aftermarket tranny cooler costs around $40.
I feel your pain, I've had an equally miserable experience with the tranny cooler lines.
