Need help with cam.
Hey,
I've got a huge problem. And I hope some of you guys can help me with that.
I can't turn my engine, except I loose all rockers...
I checked the gears, all fine. Checked it a thousand times, distributor, TDC mark, movement of the intake valve. All stands on compression stroke. BUT, as soon as I wanna screw one of the rockernuts tight, the valve opens, both valves from the first cylinder. I think the rest also, but I didn't tried.
I've got the Comp Cams XE250H-10. See the specs > http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Se...umber=12-230-2
Honestly, my technical english isn't that good on these whole specifications, so I hope someone can take a look on, and tell me what might be wrong. Stockcam was a LG4. I got an assumption, but I can't explain it on english
Pls help me.
Thx
Hawk

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
You are not supposed to "screw the nuts tight". They are adjustable, and must be set to just take up the tolerance, and then a small amount of preload must be added.
Best way to adjust them is to turn the engine slowly, and watch the #1 exhaust valve; then just as it barely begins to open, adjust the #1 intake rocker until the push rod has no play between the rocker and the lifter, and turn the rocker nut one-half turn more. Then go through the whole firing order (18436572) and do all the intake valves that way. Then turn the engine slowly until the #1 intake is just reaching the point of closing all the way, and adjust the #1 exhaust just like you did the intakes (to where you just barely take up all the play, then one-half turn more), and go through the whole firing order doing the exhausts.

Oh, that would explain my problem. Always thought had to screw them all the way down. Thx bro, I didn't knew it.
I should have asked earlier... the emgine was nearly completly mounted, but I thought the gears were wrong, so I removed the water pump, the timing chain cover.....Damn it
I hate to mount the sealing between timing chain cover and oil pan
.
But, it is as it is...
Thx again.
