Hood clearance
Okay here's the problem. My dad and I are putting together an 86 camaro 2.8 MPFI for my sister. The hood on it was dented up bad, so we found a fiberglass hood from an older Z (like an 83 I think). The problem is, this hood was meant for a carbed car. At the front of the hood on the underside, there is like a bar which goes across, and it oes not clear the air intake, where the filters are. It comes down about 1/2" too far to clear it. Is there an easy way to fix this? Like makeing a different intake? We really don't want to cut the underside of the hood.

Ward,
If I remember correctly the 2.8 is a mass air setup. As long as you retain the Mass Air Flow sensor and any other sensors in the intake tubing you can basically run any kind of intake setup you like. You might want to see if K&N makes a kit for the car. If I happen to run across anything I'll let you know.
