smog pump

i've got this smog pump on my car. when i bought it, there was no belt running to it. i guess it's safe to assume that the lack of a pulley freed up some power. so here's my question: what is innactive due to the pump not being driven? is any of my AIR or EGR stuff working at all? if neither are working and i dont need them, then i guess i'll just remove all of that equipment. there are no emmision laws here in AL. is it really worth it to remove all of this equipment? i'll check out the documents for removal. anybody know how much room or weight this removal process will give me? thanks.

All removing that stuff does is free up some room to work in there.

removing it saves a little wieght, but does nothing as far as gaining any HP you would ever notice.

Dumping the smog pump is one of those 5 hp tweaks. In itself it won't really be noticeable, but if you can find four or five of those sort it will make a difference.

Ok, so how about answering my question? Does the smog pump effect the AIR or EGR equipment? If my AIR and/or EGR is not being used and I don't need them, then I'll lose all of it.

Dump the AIR, it will make it a bit easier to change the plugs
Keep the EGR, it helps detonation problems esp with low octane gas.

Im dumping my AIR system as soon as I can find bolts to fit the manifold AIR holes...

Yes, the smog pump is part of the AIR system, if you are removing the pump, just remove all the other stuff too.

Keep the EGR as stated above, it doesn't hurt anything and it won't give you any more hp.
