Does it matter how far the MAF is away from the TB??

Thinking of doing a custom cold-air intake ducting set-up on my TPI 383 in my 67 Chev truck.
Is it better to have the MAF closer to the TB or if I extend the wires and move it further away will it be OK??
Thanks.

i believe anywhere in the intake is ok, only problem i see is if you cut and extend wires, solder the wires real well or something because you dont need a voltage drop at that connection point between the two wires, it would give false signal to the ecm.
