At the begining of summer i put an edelbrock performer tbi manifold on my car along with a 10 " open element air filter and it ran great (still does) but about 3 weeks after i did that i started to notice a noise, kinda like a whistling noise, like (bear with me here) sssSSSSSSSSSCRRpt when accelerating, it happens between 1700 - 2200 rpm and its only really noticible when taking off from a light, i dont seem to hear it after that, what could this be?

it's just the noise of the air entering the engine or engine compartment, if you really cant stand it...

try messing with different air cleaners, or possibly insulation around parts of the hood where it comes close to the fenders and firewall....etc

its nothing too big, my new engine whistles at a certain idle and rpm.

whew,,i was starting to worry,,because i think i have the same thing going on,,when my rpms get up and going,,i cant really describe the noise other than it sounds like sssscccreeeeeeeerrrrscreeeeeeerrr..(not too loud thogh,,can hear the engine alot more)up and down with rpm when im in motion.i was hoping it wasnt the tranny. kinda sounds like a vaccuum pulling air in....in my case though it seems louder when my car is in DRIVE,,and less if its in OVERDRIVE. ..Maybe the alternator? Seems to be shifting and running fine,like always,,,just asking on here if there is anything i should maybe watch for.
