Stupid Question?
I have a stupid question. I bought a set of ceramic coated hedman's and They do not have an o2 bung because I am going carburated. But next friday we are having a "Fastest Street Car Shootout" and I want to put them on with my new bullets. I plan welding a bung in the collector. Now, my only question is this, I have seen O2 extension wires but I do not know who makes them and I dont know if I can get it in time. What is the wire made of for the sensor. Can I cut it and add wire or is it something special. Thanks for any reply.

my experience with OS sensor wires is they are coated in some way, or heat treated maybe? I bought a universal O2 sensor for my Accord, I had to solder the wires together, but it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard, I had to use special connectors to do it. Good luck. Dunno if that is something odd ball or not.

O2's have some sort of sheilding on them. The type of shielding can vary. They also use gold contacts. The reason is beacause the O2 runs between 0 and 1 volt, so you need wiring with little resistance and little interferance to work properly. Thats not to say soldering regular wire wont work. Ive seen it work on the universal O2's. A somewhat off reading is going to work much better than no reading at all.
