Want to build a 350 soon any help welcome

Whats up guys I have been wanting to build a 350 for quite awhile now. I was wondering if it was possible to build a 300+ hp engine with out messing with stock the bottom end,and Could I use the stock pistons?. I was thinking of doing head work, getting cam and lifter set,new springs, valves, rockers,
push rods, and a performance intake. Also
What did u guys do on your 350 buildups(not tryin to be a copy cat or nothin haha ),I would like to know everything I can, What cam did u use, intake, what did u have done to your heads. I am in college, and dont have alot of dough to work with.what do u guys think i should do?

Thanx to all and *** bless

Well just with what you said you should be able to hit 300-350 fairly easily. Go with a medium sized cam. Too much would be bad and too little won't do a whole lot for you. The key to a good motor is matching all the parts. You want to figure out what RPM range your motor will spend most of it's time and improve power in that area. Upon doing this, you usually end up improving power over the whold RPM range and having more than enough where you will commonly need it. But like a said with a decent cam, I would say 270-280 advertised duration a little head work, good exhaust and a good intake setup you should be able to easily turn your tires into a puddle of molten goo, and fill the air with smokey clouds ofsacrificial rubber. Not to mention any ***** or rustang that comes along. Hope this helps, I would go into more detail, but it's all a matter of your pocketbook, emission laws where you live and how much streetability you want.

Heads and cam are the keys to hp. If you're limited to stock type make sure you get a set with good flow numbers, these with Comp.268 or cranes 272 cam a 2 plane edelbrock rpm or weiand 8004, Q-Jet or 600 Holley and compression ratio 9 to 91/2:1 will get you 300/350 hp and a very streetable perf. engine. If you want more specific info. [head #]myself or others can supply them.

Is money an issue. I can't give you too much info on heads or a cam. But as far as exhaust SLP makes the best headers, and I would go with a Hooker cat-back. What kind of tranny will you be using. A stock 700r4 probably won't handle that power for long and a T5 definately won't. Rebuild the tranny with a Transgo Reprogramming kit, and get a TC with a matched stall speed of your power band. You say you have another car, yet you still want this one to be streetable, then I would go with some 3:73 gears. Of course you just mentioned an engine rebuild, but you don't necessarily have to do all engine mods to have a fast car.

Money is always a issue with me LOL,but I am willing to do what it takes. So I wouldn't have to necessarily do anything to the stock bottom end or change pistons?.After how many miles a engine has on it does boring come in to play.
