H.E.I.?? little help

hey all i have a 1983 z28 and it originally came with a carbed 305 with a quadrajet and computer-controlled HEI ignition system. when i first bought the car 5 years ago i was not familiar with this system and had a mechanic convert the car to a normal edelbrock carb and he said i had to have a different distributer put it??

anyway, the car doesn't run as smooth as it did with the original computer-controlled HEI ignition system. so i will be puttin the quadrajet and old distributer back on the car.

since i was not the one that took off this old system, can someone please help me out with what i should be hooking back up( i have all the original parts).. i know the basics like installing the carb and distrib but there are a lot of wires and i want to make sure i hook EVERYTHING back up..

if anyone is familiar with my system at all ANY pointers will help me out a LOT

also if anyone knows what size quadrajets were put on the '83 z28's i'm curious about that

THanks a lot!
again, any advice will help me out!

There's a ground and power wire that go to the module IIRC. And then one for the tach (there's one white single clip, a one red single clip, a 3 prong black clip). Then there's the EST connector, which is a different 3 prong connector.

I believe the q-jets are 650cfm, unless you notch out the restrictor tab then they flow to something like 795cfm (IIRC).

There's a few connectors that go to the carb as well. As long as you still have the original wiring harness intact, and the emissions sticker on your hood still it shouldnt be too hard of a swap back.
