PLEASE HELP! time is a factor

Hey, well Im doing a intake/carb swap, and theres a peice thats holding me back from getting it all back together. Its this weird tube thing that goes into the manifold and squigles around and comes back out, it bolts to the passenger side of the intake and It wont fit in my new manifold Is this thing important? what does it do? can I cut off the lines and plug them? please help, I need to get this put back together today

thanks in advance

heres my cheap paint version of what it looks like

Ah, the ol' "hot air choke tube thingy" routine. I didn't realize any 3rd gens used a hot air choke (even Canadian). I imagine that engine (or intake) came from something older and was swapped into your car. Correct?

At any rate, you don't need it if your carb has an electric choke. If your carb has a hot air choke, and your new intake can't accomodate the hot air choke tube thingy, you need to convert the carb over to electric choke.
