gas problem and smell

well ive been over this a few times, but i know alot more now.

cars a 92 camaro rs w/ the stock 305 tbi engine, im geting around 9mpg (about) it used to be alot better, stock manifolds going into cat back to flowmaster. it smeels like stright up unburnt gas VERY VERY BAD. my tbi has been cleaned, i got a new fuel filter havent put it on yet, i changed out the plugs. the wires\cap look pretty new.

the car takes time to start like i have to like it turn over for a good 5-6 secounds or 2 secounds let off and 2 secounds more. sometimes harder.

so im beleaveing this is a timeing problem? this is my daily driver so i gotta get it fixed fast cause im going on trip this weekend, even tho the cars for sale i still gotta fix it.

ANY IDEAS, PLEASE POST ASAP!

thanks ALOT you guys rock

Check the oil for gas in it, Also what about the fuel pressure regulator? Too much fuel will cause numerous problems on these cars.

It is not the timing. Timing will not cause excessive fuel delivery.

Probably not the EGR either. Same reason.

Now that we have the 2 universal things off the table that people always want to blame for any kind of driveability problem, it's time to get serious.

You have too much fuel getting delivered. Don't grasp at straws, instead, concentrate your efforts toward things can can deliver too much fuel.

Have you replaced the O2 sensor? That should be a part of a tune-up. Also, put a cap & rotor in it, it's kind of pointless to try to troubleshoot something when some of the parts that are both cheapest and most likely to fail, are old and worn.

Start there, see if it makes a difference.

If it doesn't, I'd be looking at the injectors next. They're easy to get at the junkyard.
