question about noise at high speed...

i just got my 84 camaro a couple of days ago and when i reach 70mph the car starts shakeing and gets real loud. I just got new tires and got it realied and it steal does it. Is this normal for camaros? the shifter *** also starts raddeling like crazy.

Hmm. Could be a few things.

Very badly balanced tires.
A driveshaft in need of a balancing.
A REALLY horrible engine. heh.


Does the engine shake a lot when it's in neutral at high RPM's?


And, here's a very dangerous way to test if it's the driveshaft or not:

Put the rear of the car on jackstands so the tires are off the ground, put the car in drive, and rev it up. Be sure the jackstands are clear of the tires. Again, this isn't the smartest thing a person could do. heh

I would have to say it's the driveshaft because of the shaking shifter ****, that's the logical next step to check since you said you got new tires with no difference. A possible easy fix is try making sure there is no dirt or any foreign matter on the driveshaft that would throw it out of balance.
