If you're a moderator and you're going to lock a thread

don't be a little pri ck and add a snide remark , then lock it. Just do your job and lock the thread for non-tech content.

I agree totally, I was going to email a moderator on a recent remark, until I saw this post. You know some people that live in trailers aren't exactly white trash. I am one of those people. I can't help the fact of how I have grown up, I can only change the future. That's why I'm in my second year at college in a double major to be a CPA and personal trainer. I get tired of people whenever they mention third gens. and trailer parks. But I guess I know how other people feel that get labeled as well. Just my thoughts.

Being a moderator isn't a 'job', it's a privilege. We simply have super user privs to lock/delete/move topics as we see fit. Beyond that, we are just people like everybody else, and given the power to always have the last word, we are certainly likely to use it on occasion if we feel there is a point to be made.
While i agree that ideally we as moderators should stick to the high ground, it is not ANYBODY's perogative to tell us that something we have done is out of line except for dirk himself.
In other words, settle down. This site has been here for years, and it's not going anywhere anytime soon. As humans we are all imperfect at times, and to make demands on a group of people that volunteer their time to try to keep everything running smoothly *is* indeed asking too much. If you have an issue w/ a moderator, take it up in email w/ them. If (and only if) you really think there is a problem and email isn't getting through, then email dirk and see what he has to say. Other than that, posting such complaints publicly isn't going to win you any popularity contests and also isn't going to cause anybody to really care.

btw, if this was my board, this post would now be locked, once again giving the moderator the last word, illustrating the point that our point is the end of the discussion.

In hindsight I should have just locked it and said nothing. But it kind of got my goat alittle so I had to make a comment.

And since the point was made I'll lock this.
