Sure, they'll bolt up. Without knowing what casting they are, I can't tell you any more about them. Someone else may be able to though, I don't know much about the older motors.

They'll bolt to the block, but chances are they won't have bolt holes to mount your accessories. The valve seats probably aren't hardened for unleaded gas either.

well guys, thanks for the quick replies. i do not have the 327 heads yet, i was hoping i could get more information as to what casting numbers to look for. also if you know anyone that has done this maybe get their casting numbers? lol, its a longshot, i would just like to know if it will owrk. maybe it would just be easier to stick some 350 heads on it? that would work, correct me if im wrong but i think its been done

I wouldn't look for any 327 heads, regardless of casting number. Most 350 heads are going to have larger chambers which will kill your compression on a 305.

It will work ! But I have a 1966 vette 327 - no bolt holes in front of heads. Will have to make altered brackets.

Like a lot of things that will work, they're probably not worth the trouble.

hmmmm, alright, wlel it was just a thought. figured it would work one way or another but i suppose your right that its not worth all the work. would you suggest port and polish on my stock 305 heads? or go performance?

port and polish your 305 heads = performance

if you want more, go for a 350. otherwise your just throwing good money at a bad motor.

327 heads would drop your compression, since the stock 305 head chamber is 58cc (unless some are bigger like hmm 64 ???)

I was going to get some other heads but considering some people have had excellent results from porting their swirl port 305 heads ... oh well .... I'm going to do the same

And welcome to the "I'm going to stick with my 305" club Sometimes not enough of us
