Converting from TBI to TPI.

This is probably a dumb question, but if I wanted to convert from TBI to TPI, I would have to do an engine swap right? Or is there another way? Thanks.

Nope, all you have to do is remove your TBI unit (looks like a carburator), and the thing it sits on (the intake). Then you replace it with equivalent but better TPI parts . You also have to mess around with some computer stuff though (I think). THere was a full TPI 350 for sale in the classifieds at one point, you should check that out, I think it's 900 bucks. I'd just go with the 350 right away, you can find them for about 1000 bucks.

Yes you would need all the sensors and wiring harness, computer and a new fuel pump. In the end you could probably pick up a turn key TPI 350 for the same price as converting the 305.

Why would you want to give yourself such a big head ache?
If you question the ability of the TBI setup you should do some checking. They are a very capable mode of induction. Check out the following links before you swap anything.

Yea, I figured it be a much better idea to get the 350 TPI. Thanks for clearing that up.
