Random non-starting problem

My wifes 89 Formula (TPI 350, Automatic) has a starting problem. It always turns over and starts for me. About once a month, she turns the key and nothing happens. The dash lights work OK, but the starter motor does nothing. About an hour later, it starts fine. It usually occurs when she has made 2 or 3 short trips.

We have swapped batteries, tried different keys, and she jiggles the shifter with no luck. The motor runs very cool, so I don't think the started is overheated.

Any help is gratefully appreciated.

I had similar happen to my 86 Camaro. It turned out to be a bad fusible link to the starter. It got corroded and sometimes it would allow the electricity to go through and sometimes it would not.

I hope this helps.

Could be some intermittent thing in the wiring, most likely though it needs a starter. I'd start at the starter.
