Which heads? 2 Choices
We were going to rebuilt a set of Cast L98's but it appears its not worth it in terms of cost. Were not looking for all out performance , but a little better.
First off We have Dart Iron Eagle SS Heads. Heres what they say
New pair of assembled Dart Iron Eagle SS cylinder heads for carbureted small block 327, 350, 377, 383, or 400 engines. (377 & 400 applications for street would require steam holes to be drilled ) 67cc heart shaped combustion chambers. Straight spark plug design. High flow 170cc intake runners. Integral cast valve guides.Bolt holes on end of heads for all accessories. These heads are assembled in our machine shop. Seat concentricy is checked, mild bowl blending is done to remove any casting intrusions. Assembled with premium stainless swirl polished 2.02 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust valves with necked down stems. New .550 lift Z-28 valve springs, new steel retainers, hardened locks, and umbrella valve seals. Screw in rocker arm studs (3/8") and guideplates are also included. All machine work is done in our own shop on quality equipment.
Second head is a World Products S/R Torquer Head
Intake Runner: 170cc
Combustion Chamber: 67cc
Intake Valves: 2.02 ss
Exhaust Valves: 1.60 ss
Valve Angle: 23*
Valve Springs: .550 Max Lift
Plugs: 14mm Straight Plug
Studs: 3/8
S/R Torquer heads are an improved replacement for the factory Chevrolet 327, 350, 400 cylinder heads. Feature 170cc intake runners with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust vales. Which can provide up to a 30 horsepower increase over most OEM castings. These heads are 50-state emissions legal and are accepted by many racing bodies as "stock". The valve seats are hardened to provide compatibility with unleaded gas.
S/R Torquer heads have accessory boltholes drilled in the factory locations and seven exhaust boltholes for use with newer style factory exhaust manifolds. They are also drilled to accept either perimeter bolt valve cover or center bolt valve cover.
This is going on a 355, LPE216 cam TPI intake. With the Pistons we have 67CC makes our CR 8:5:1 which is good for our procharger we have as well.

Of the two I like the Dart SS. They are 165cc intake port.
They really respond to simple head porting. I wouldn't pass up on this before bolting them on. makes all the difference.
You should be able to rebuild your stock L-98 heads with all the required machining and parts to get them into shape for much less than new castings. With some of the same home brewed porting you'll achieve the performance you're looking for. These heads have lots of potential in ported form.
Get a few competitive quotes on rebuilding your heads first.
Just another option...
