code 32 and cooling problems

I have a code 32 popping up. It only happens when the egine is cold. If I warm the car up for a few min. cut it off and wait about 20 sec then start it up the light goes off. I checked the solenoid and it is ok. my guess is it is the valve or passages. my question about the cooling problem is I checked ohms across the two coolant sensors the one in the head read 33 ohms and the one in the intake read 149 ohms. what could be causing the difference? the car has headers, 350 instead of a 305. Could the headers, the egr problem, timing, or gaskets cause the problem, or is it something else I haven't thought of. Please help I don't want a dead Iroc.

Thanks,

86,

Welcome aboard!

The sensor in the head is telling you that it is sensing 258°F coolant, but the one in the intake crossover is sensing 215°F coolant. Unless there is some serious restriction to coolant flow, there is likely a sensor problem.

The 32 DTC is caused by an EGR system malfunction. Unless the EGR vacuum solenoid is faulty, the EGR valve is leaking, or the EGR diagnostic temperature sensor is failing, the 32 shouldn't have any real bearing on the cooling problem. It should be repaired, but the cooling system is probably the priority repair.
