305 won´t start

Just installed a new flat tappet cam and new lifters. We set a timing with timing light. The engine turns nicely but it won´t start. I checked for the spark and it turned out to be ok but the plugs were wet. Sometimes it poped to the carb sometimes it banged to exhaust.
It`s a carbed engine with 600 cfm edelbrock carb and blue holley fuel pump. The fuel pressure is about 6psi...
Thanks

If you installed your timing chain set at dot to dot alignment, but installed your distributor pointing to the #1 cylinder and set it up as such, then yes, you are 180° off. At dot to dot alignment, the #6 cylinder should be recieving spark.

Until they turn it 180 degrees and the car starts.

Yes, that´s exactly what we did. I´ll try to turn it.
But is there also a possibility that the valves are set wrong?? We installed new anti pump-up lifters and i´m not sure if the valve lash is correct. ..

Zero-lash them, and final-adjust them after you get the car running. THen they won't matter.

Well the same problem continued although i double checked everything. Finally i screwed on 750 speed demon and it cranked!! This carb looks brutal on a small 305, but it must run with it until i´ll get my 600 refreshed.
