ECM upgrade?

very soon i will be having a 350 tpi from a '91 GTA put in to my 87 trans am. it will have edlebrock heads, a cam (?) and roller rockers. it will also have the headers and exhust that is already on the car. will i have to modify the ECM bearing in mind that it will have MAP?

Will you be running the MAF and wiring from the 87 car, or carrying over the computer, wiring, and everything else from the 91?

Doesn't matter. TPI itself is identical between a 305 and a 350. Same sensors, same runners, same throttle body, same air intake, same distributor. The only things that are different between them are the chip, the knock sensor, and the injectors. Everything else is identical. Basically it's all sized for a 305 anyway, regardless of which short block is under it.

Since you've got the whole 350, you have the injectors and the knock sensor; 2 out of the 3 differences; so all you have to do, if you keep the 87 wiring, ECM, and so forth, is deal with the chip.

To use the 91 stuff in your 87 car, your main concern will be the year-model thing which includes the MAF vs SD issue. Not 305 vs 350. And while those differences aren't insurmountable or anything, there's numerous minute details, like connector pins and such; a big PITA.

In other words, you don't HAVE TO use the 91 stuff, if you don't want to, or if you're missing any of it.
