to those of u with HOT and COLD starting problems
Ok, before i changed the Coolent Temp Sensor, my car would stall on cold mornings, as it would idle at 600 RPMs, and until it warmed up, it would drive kinda funny when first taking off, it would start right away when cold though. but when the engine is warm, i noticed it would take alot longer to start, well now that i replaced the Coolent temp sensor, the car will start perfect in the morning, and idle at 900 RPM's till warm, and the warm starts are quicker then before. i think my gas milage might of went up, but i have yet to fill up and check, but hardley ever do i get past 200 miles on a tank, and im at 199 now!! but anyways, if ur having cold and warm start problems, i recomend replacing coolent temp sensors, the ones in the front of the engine that is.

David, I ran into the same problem and it's amazing how much the CTS controls. My understanding is most of the tables in the computer rely on accurate engine temperature readings. Bad readings cause the computer to do really stupid things

if u have an 89, then u don't have one. but i still recomend chaning ur CTS, for 89+, the ECM enriches all injectors instead of just using the cold start injector when needed.

did u replace the CTS? also, the cold start temp sensor is on the fron of the engine, to the right of the CTS, and it has a bigger connector, that might also help cold starts, and there is another temp sensor on the Drivers side between the 1st and ?? cylinders. have u changed ur thermostat and make sure ur coolent system is running good? 210* is an average running temp with stock therm and fan switch.

ok this is what i WAS going to email u but decided to post here incase i left out something....
the fan temp sensor is on the DRIVERS side and the knock sensor is on the passenger side. you might goto Pepboys and pick up a 180* or 160* thermostat and a fan switch that turns the fans on at a lower temp, either an adjustable one, or one that turns it on around 195* (or if u don't feel like putting in a new thermostat then pick up a regular replacement fan switch).. im not too good at fan wiring and such, but i am pretty sure its a direct hook up from the fan switch to the fan.
but i highly recomend changing ur Coolent temp sensor if u haven't already, my car still has a problem with stalling after the first start, or unless i give it gas, BUT, as soon as it catches or gets restarted, it idles at 1100 when its 35* outside and goes down to 500 once warmed up, while before it did the same thing as urs.
good luck
