My truck runs 180deg constantly -10 or 100. It's freaking cold and the heater doesent put out squat for heat. I replaced to old heater core a few weeks back and last winter I fooled around with 180-195 thermostates that dident raise the running temp at all. The water pump is new. The heater vents work and I have even tryed a higher antifreeze mix. Im stumped, any ideas? Oh and I run a thermofan.

How is your heater core hooked up? That is, where do the hoses go? There supposed to be such that one goes to a point on the "hot" side of the cooling system, and one goes to the "cold" side; if they're both hooked up to fiitings on the hot side or both on the cold side, no water will ever flow. That would just about guarantee poor heater operation.

The hose from the water pump goes to the top and the bottem goes to the manifold.
It really sucks being sick and having heater problems.

Edit: Do you think the hillbilly cardboard infront of the radiator would help any?
Thanks.

Add a lot of HP, supercharger it without an intercooler or something

you could put in a high thermostat, or disconnect the fan?

Grab the heater hose that comes off the intake manifold, but grab it back near where it attaches to the heater core back by the firewall. Do this when the engine is heated up. The hose should be RAGING HOT to the point you can't hold onto it. If you CAN hold onto it, you have a flow problem to the heater core. If you CAN'T hold onto it, you have an airflow problem under the dash somewhere.

Hillbilly? Hey, I do that!

'Course, I guess it can't be seen, since it's hidden by my Firebird's bumper... but man, the extra heat is worth it! My girlfriend's '94 Camaro V6 heats up almost instantly; my car takes forever. (And yah, the 195 'stat is back in.) I might use a sheet of aluminum this winter; for some reason, I had this thought last week of the cardboard catching fire.
