Odd Power Steering Leak??
Ok, this is a new one for me. I've never had trouble out of a power steering pump on every vehicle I've owned. Ok here goes. I first noticed power steering fluid leaking a few months after I bought the car in 2002. Now it was so minimal that I decided to add stop-leak and it basically never needed fluid until every 3-4 months...ok, not bad. Now today, everytime I shut off the car after driving it, you can physically see it drip and it will empty almost the whole pump onto the garage floor as I stare in dismay. I noticed both my high pressure and low pressure lines were in bad shape so I put a brand new high pressure line on it and a low pressure hose....still leaks. So I take the pump and lines off and out of the car and examine. I removed the bracket fitting and the high pressure fitting out of the back and the o ring looked fine and so I decided to add some RTV around both those fittings in case it was seeping from there. Well after putting it all back together....same thing..drip drip drip...arrrgghhh. I climb under the car with a flashlight and you can see power steering fluid forming on the bottom of the pump and dripping off but the fittings and the back of the pump are dry as a bone. Where is this leak coming from?? Is my pump bad?? Do they just began to leak from unknown places? It still works great and does not seem to leak when driving, only when the engine is shut off and it doesnt leak it all out, just enough to make it whine. This is really frustrating!!

Pump shaft seal...
Should be able to get a pump rebuild kit at a local auto parts store for a few bucks.
I dont know about down there but pumps are pretty cheap up here and i would opt to just replace the whole assembly.

It could also be the pump case/reservoir seal (the big square ring) leaking, but in either case, the Canuck is right - A reman pump is the cheapest and easiest way to go unless you have a lot of time and odd parts availability.
