gas smell inside the car when accelerating

Hi
When accelerating hard with the ventilation on I can smell gas... My car is a '89 GTA 350 tpi. Engine is stock (100.000 miles).
Should just verify the hoses for leaks?
Thanks alot!

Do you have the hose from the airvents to open it to full blast, cant remember whats its called. But if it is connected to the back of the plenum you will smell some of gas,or at least i'm pretty sure of it.

You also might want to consider replacing the gas cap. If the pressure in the tank is not venting properly it makes a very strong gas smell in the car.

I would recomend you to go and buy a small fire estinguisher and cary it in your car while you find the problem. Good luck.

I second the extinguisher idea...... It's a damn shame to watch someones pride and joy go up in flames and not be able to do a friggen thing about it......
