Car has alittle misfire at idle, runs rough at 2,500 rpm what could it be?

Hi, my car has aslight mis and idle and if I bring it up to 2,500 rpm the car runs rough, I don't notice it when I am driving though.

Do spark plugs go bad with age? I have had them in there ( rapid fire) for 5 years, I have only put 2,000 miles on them though. cap rotor and wires have a little less. Thanks

i have the rapid fires too. (great plug) I dont know if plugs wear with age but if you only put 2,000 on them i dont see them being at fault. I would check to see if any of your wires has a hole or somthing of that nature because its probaly arcking to ground. or you may have a craked sprak pulg too. My dads truck had a miss with a load on it and it turned out to be a hecka small hairline crack in the plug that was arcking to ground. Just check the ignition system bro.. Good luck YO!!

You may want to check the cap and rotor for any corrosion on the contacts. Also, how old is the gas? If you don't drive it that much you may have some bad gas. Low fuel levels can get some condentation in the gas tank as well.

Should I put any die electric grease on any of the contact points on the dist cap or rotor? I was told to do this. Is there anything I can use to clean them up inside? the cap is accel and the rotor is a msd. The gas always get stabile and I try to run a tank or 2 though it a year and I always store the car with a full tank.

I wouldn't use it inside the cap and rotor. If there is a little bit of corrosion then you could use some fine grit sand paper to clean it up. I have seen that grease dry up on spark plugs and cause problems.
