Coupla things... I don't know what board this really goes on, so I'm sticking it on Tech/General engine.... Sorry mod's! 
Anyways, I've got an 84 Bird... And my gas tank meter (the thingy in the dash) varies... Greatly. And never, ever drops to the red zone even though I've run outta gas a coupla times... (It sucks! Esepecially during rush hour.)
Whats up with that?
The last coupla days when I pull into the garage at my house I hear a gurgling sound coming from my car.. Whats that?
Thirdly, my speedometer bounces all over the place when I go above 70 mph. Whatsa up with that?

It may be time to remove the instrument cluster and inspect the contacts on the rear. You might also want to check the connections and grounds at the fuel tank, and chassis grounding in general. I'm not certain if the '84 POntiac had a VSS in the trans or speedo, but poor connections at the I/P will affect the speedo either way.
