On a head which is the intake and exhaust valve

I have to adjust my valve lash and i need help figuring out which is which. Here you can base it on these vortec heads. thanks for your help

Look at the head from the side (looking across the engine). The valve will either line up with an exhaust port or an intake port, and that's which one it is.
