Intake Question???

I was told that if I get a new intake on my engine it won't make that much of a difference without a cam. But this is the stock intake from my LG4 with the peanut cam. I'm pretty sure the cam I have in my new motor isn't that bad, so wouldn't a new intake benefit me.
The last time I G-Teched my car, I ran a horrible 15.61 . However, this was with a burnt plug wire, and severly slipping tranny(that's fixed now). I had to let off the gas for a quicker 1-2 shift. Also that time was before my gear(had 2:73s) and cat-back mods. I hoping for low-mid 14s with all that fixed. Is there any way possible to break into the 13's with the intake.
edit:
And the intake I'm getting is the Summit polished aluminum, idle-5500rpm powerband.

Stock intakes are usually pretty worthless. Replacing them with a better designed version, even on an otherwise bone stock motor, will almost always show some improvment.

My car puts 214 HP to the rear wheels, which is about 265 HP at the crank. That's with a 305. I have the same intake casting as you. I doubt your intake is causing you much of a restriction.

If that's the 200-whatever HP motor (not the 330 HP one) it comes with the old .390"/.410" mid-70s smog cam, which is the 350 equivalent of the peanut cam, maybe even worse; and your heads are probably as much, if not more, of a problem.

In short, resist the temptation to just unbolt and replace stuff that's easy to get to and in plain sight. The stuff you can't see is usually what you need to upgrade. It's not as instantly gratifying as opening your hood and seeing some shiny new thing sitting there; but then again, shiny things don't add a single ft-lb just by being shiny.

Thanks for the info guys, either way it's a Christmas present. And at least I'll have it for down the road. I would like to change the cam or heads, but I can't afford aluminum heads and the I've assisted in one cam change and that was a pain in the butt, in January and no garage.

I'll be sure to G-Tech it before the install, and post results of the improvements.
