Are our fuel filters directional???

I bought a fuel filter from Pep Boys. When I took the old one off it looked like the origional AC Delco one, but both were a little different on the ends. I wasn't sure which way the old one went. I was just curious if the filters were directional and if it mattered which way I put it?

when I replaced mine it was directional. The new filter should have an arrow pointing towards the front of the car on it. Thats the way to do it...

Yes they are and the filter should have an arrow on it that indicates the direction of flow which is from the fuel tank to the engine...

If there is no arrow, the welded side always the outlet and the rounded side is always the inlet.

I can't look at my car now because I am at school. I sorta rushed putting the filter on b/c the fuel was running all over. I remember putting the welded side towards the back of the car and the round side towards the engine. Towards which end of the car is the inlet and outlet? Thanks!

The "inlet" side should go on the hard line coming from the fuel tank.

If you put the welded side towards the tank then it is backwards. I *think* fuel will still go through but it should be fixed if it is on backwards.
