here's how it started..... i had lost my fuel cap (actually i forgot to put it on after i filled up) and didnt have one for like a week. I didn't notice i didnt have it. well i bought a replacement and now the gauge pegges out when I fill it up. Usually it would just go past the F but now it goes realllly past it. anybody got any info on this? thanks for your help

yea... the sending unit... if it's pegged way the heck out, you need to check the wiring for it. could be the gage, too. all your other gages read normal? aside from that, just putting on a different cap, did you get the correct replacement, or just something that would fit? i'm not too keen on how a cap could ever cause a gage to peg out, other than not being properly pressurized or vented - whatever it is they do...

btw, pray it's not the sending unit. if it is, put it at the top of your christmas wish list...
