Alum. L98 heads...what pushrods? and 2.02's?
Iv read that you can put 2.02 1.60 valves in an aluminum L98 head but i havnt seen too much good information on it? if so is 2.02 1.6 the biggest that will work.....i know 2.00 1.55 will work but i would like more. and also i was wondering what pushrods i have to run, i plan on running an edelbrock hydraulic roller cam but not sure if i want to try and do some work to use stock roller lifters or get the retro fit style. anyone have the length id need on either or both??? and can i use STOCK headgaskets?? or can i use a thin style/copper headgasket?

you need to test geometry, use a pushrod checker, as i have learned from everyone on this site, and worked i bought one got the size, and now dont need the checker, so if you need one i have one 7.8-8.8 sizes at .50.

Why do you insist on 2.02 x 1.60" valves?
You can get all the flow and power from 2.00"x 1.56" valves that you would get from 2.02x 1.60".
The good "LT-4" valve set is lighter and more durable than most performance 2.02x 1.60 sets.
This is the way to go for these heads.

dunno why im posting this but ill throw it out their, im running 2.10" intakes and 1.6" manley valves.
if i understand my non proven theory correctly, the bigger the valve should help velocity much more.

All the info and data I have seen shows the aluminum L98 heads do not respond well to larger valves. Its not worth the money involved to gain only a couple CFM on these heads.

i wouldnt think youd gain much going from a 1.94 to 2.00 since its not a whole lot but my brother bought a set of these heads and he wants to know what he can put in them, he plans on making 450hp at the motor. so whichever is the best way for him to get there.

If you want to see what can be done with these heads, look at what Lingenfellter did with them. Uses 2.00x 1.56" valves. Yes when properly ported you can make 450hp with these heads with the rest of the supporting parts.
Lingenfelter's company CNC ports these heads into the 250-260cfm range with about a 185-190cc port volume when finished.
They are about 163 as cast.
In order to see a gain from a larger 2.02 the seats have to be replaced and the chambers have to deshrouded properly to allow the larger valve to breath. The flow and any power gain will be slight to insignicant at best.
You should be able to port these heads to a 240-245cfm range or more at home. You don't need to be an expert but do need to do a complete porting job.
The 2.00"x 1.56" LT-4 valve set is the way to go with these heads. This is what the pros do.

Talk about a steep price tag. I guess if you have the $$ though that is the place to go, you know everything there is quality and as-advertised.

Once you include the full 100% CNC option, specific valve train parts and head milling for 58cc's.

185cc's???? Daaaaaayum! On my heads we could get a max of 174cc's before we went into the water jacket and had to repair them.
