distributor problem?

ok i have a 92 camaro rs with the 305tbi. the other day i was driveing and it was chugging and stuff so i decided to replace the cap\rotor, well i got the cap off and the rotor was shot, then i notised the distributor can be moved by hand, does this just mean its loose? how do i go about adjusting it? i gotta redo the timeing correct? and set it at top dead center.

any information will help

firing order is standard on sbcs, 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

you should set your timing to the correct spec for your car, if it's bone stock. something like 0*...?

at the base of the dizzy there is a bolt 9/16 that holds down the clamp. on top of intake manifold.

disconnect wire thats out of harness above ac housing at passenger firewall to set timing.

no its at the very base of the distributor, where it comes out of the intake manifold. the bolt holds a clamp attached to the manifold. look from passinger side. its a real pain in the *** to get to.
