pick up coil question

pick up coil question
i have a 86 2.8 camaro. it hasnt been starting for a while, but it cranks. if the pick up coil is gone bad will the engine still crank ?

As long as the starter works itll crank. The coil just generates a reference for the ign. module.

i was reading somewhere that 3rd gens have a history of bad pick up coils in the distributor, is this true ?

More or less the ignition module likes to fail when hot, from what I have noticed. Also more or less with V-8's.
But a part is a part and prone to failure all the same.

also i was wondering, if the pick up coil is gone bad, can thier still be spark ?? i am guessin not. see the car has spark, but i am not sure if it is enough or not ??, also fuel does come to the lines in the engine, again, not sure if thier is enough pressure..
