HELP! I HAVE A 92 CAMARO WITH A TBI 305, AUTO. IT STARTS FINE , IDLES FINE, SOUNDS GREAT BUT AS SOON AS I PUT IT IN GEAR IT DIES. BACK IN PARK,START UP, RUNS GOOD PUT IN DRIVE AND DIES. I CAN KEEP MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND IT WILL GO BUT LACKS POWER. AS SOON AS I BRING IT TO A STOP IT WILL DIE IF I LET OFF THE GAS.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Maybe a vacuum leak.
Start looking right around your caps-lock key.

That darn caps locks booster valve must be stuck again (avoid typing in caps locks).

Could be a vacuum leak, as mentioned. If that were the case, though, it wouldn't idle so well. What is the idle speed in park?

How does it drive normally, once you get it going? Does it have any hesitation (signaling that there might not be enough fuel to feed the engine under load)? A fuel pressure tester might be worth looking into.

If it runs fine otherwise, something perhaps an ill-functioning torque converter could cause it.

Have you checked your timing on the car. Check the vacuum line going to the brake booster also.
