Need help with my TBI swap

I am planning on putting a 350 with around 300hp....I am in the process of updating the fuel system, exhaust, and major tuning.

One question is that I want to be able to run a/c since its going to be my driver back and forth to work... currently my car is an 89.

I dislike the massive serpentine system as I am going to be dressing up the car dramatically...Will the a/c brackets along with an older style compressor (say from an 82-84 camaro, monte carlo) work on these cars? I want to keep it in the stock location as well...I am running an aluminum pump as well as PS..I dont need smog.

Oh BTW, this will have the R134 conversion once I get it finished.

Thanks
Mike

You could probably use an older compressor that mounted on the wrong side of the engine, the old flex refrig. lines (which I hear liked to leak at the crimp fittings) and brackets from an early 80's f-body, but for a daily driver Id stick with the serpintine belt setup. Its already there and its simpler and more efficient then the old v-belt setup.

IMO, the serpentine belt is a better looking system. It is less cluttered and everything is built into the same brackets. A V-Belt system can be a pain and is not self-tensioning. The serpentine belt setups are also dyno proven to draw less HP. If it were me, I would detail the brackets and accessories, then switch to an underdrive crank and alternator pulley. That will help keep the parasitic loads off the engine especially when you are running the engine hard, in high temperatures, with the A/C on.

Serpentine belt is also nice when you need to remove it or replace it. Takes a total of 2 minutes to put a new one on.
