timing and idle question?
Ok, is there anything extra that needs to be done to use a timing light one our cars? For my set up what would be a good base timing to tune from? And whats a good idle speed for my car, after i get it idling right? any feedback would be awesome

If, by stock carb, you mean the CC-quadra, then yes, you have to unplug the EST wire that comes out of the rear of the distributor. Should be a 4-wire connector that runs along the trans tunnel. That allows you to set the base timing without the electronic advance going goofy. I would start with 0° and go from there, perhaps about 6° or so base. Timing is timing, give it what it likes.
Idle, whatever speed allows it so that it doesn't stall out when it's put into gear. I have no clue on what a good range would be for your engine. Mine doesn't idle worth a crap below 1200. Maybe 8-900 in park, about 600 in drive?

The TPI cars were programmed to run at 18-22* timing at idle. But I hear that many carb'd cars run only 10-14*. Just remember that the more advance you have, the more fuel you will need to add. But it is probably wisest to give it what it runs best at.
