Different wire placement on Dist. Cap
I have a question. I have my wire all shifted ahead 2 spots on the Dist. Cap. Like for instance. where the #4 wire SHOULD be, thats where my #1 wire is, then it goes in order from there. This is on a Computer Controlled HEI Distributer. Will this affect anything? I dont have top end power. when motor gets around 4500-5000 range.. doesnt really rev any higher.. and power just stops!

Only if your base timing is off. Sometimes, on certain applications (and not just GM's) if the wires are off you cant turn the distributor enough to get the correct base timing setting. Get a timing light and check it. If its fine, dont worry about the wires.
As long as they are on in the proper firing order from wherever you started with the #1 plug wire AND your timing is set correctly the distributor will never know the difference. It only knows when to fire, not which plug the voltage is going to.
It can make for a messy plug wire routing, but it won't affect the way it functions.

When the dist. was put in it was off a couple teeth. All that does is move the position of the #1 terminal on the cap. No biggie. I put mine in so that #1 is facing about 4 o'clock when looking from the front of the motor. This makes for nice plug wire routing with less wires having to cross one another.
