info on Autolite 65 plugs???? unshrouding electrodes??
i bought some autolite 65's for my new 383 but need to make sure they will be okay. on the back it says autolite 65DP2. im running alum heads with 10.3 CR +/- .2
i got these because after some trial and error these fit the heads perfectly and i got the 65's because i assumed they would be in the middle of the heat range.
are these gonna work...anyone have any more info on them? apparently autolites site doesnt...
oh and is it worth it to unshroud the electrode tips?

They are good for damage control.
If things heat up there is no elctrode to melt off and get lodged in the wrong spot. But that usualy only happens if your running lean like for emssions and racin on it.

I mentioned filing back the ground strap in my recent post, i'll see if I can find it....
I'd say it's worth it, free, 20 minutes of work, even for minimal gains i'd say go for it. Just file back your ground strap until the tip of it is at the center of the center electrode, or even back to the edge of the center electrode. Then file the edges to remove sharp edges, and round it off a bit. I think f-bird did a little paint drawing of it, if you can find that....
then gap to your liking.

well if anyone cares I just got off the phone with Autolite and they said for a passenger car these were fine but in higher comp ratios these are kind of hot. I was told to go with a 63. Don't want to detonate!!!
