There's nothing wrong with that. Manufacturers have been making rotating pistons for some time. It's to cut down on focused wear spots in the bores, thus cutting down on expensive warranty claims.
Oh, by the way, that sucks.

Haha yeah, it was a goodwrench 350.
I was coming home on the freeway from a friends house and I wasnt neccesarially taking it easy on the car either. Next thing I know it I heard a ticking noise that went with the rpm.
I ended up taking the top half of the engine off, I had to pull the lifters out with vice grips so I figured that it was the cause of the knock. I also at that time realised I didnt have any oil.
I hoped it wasnt a bearing, I didnt look but it was suspect. I got my car started, backed it up, drove it around my block and half way it made a loud clanking noise and died. I had to push the car home, it wouldnt even turn over. It was dripping oil and antifreeze and i didnt think about plugging the hole
The oil line faded in less than a month, I bet my neighbors were pissed, I never heard anything about it. Since I got it home, its been sitting in my driveway, This all happened around march 05 I believe.
My friend patt owns an 87 blazer that has a 350 in it that his uncle put in the truck. Before the truck was patts, it was his uncles, and the engine has been his uncles since he owned it when he bought a 78 vette. The motor looks like ****, but runs solid. Its been rebuilt twice but I dont know when, patt still needs to get ahold of his uncle and ask.
Well his tranmission died in that truck, so hes selling me the whole thing for $350 dollars. Im ripping my engine out of the camaro, then taking the engine out of the blazer and putting it into my car with my heads that ive ported out to match a felpro gasket, my performer rpm intake, and with the q-jet that came with my car. hopefully ill have hood clearance because I plan on putting on new motor mounts.
My dads pulling money out of an account we have setup to buy me new tires and the basic parts needed to swap the engines. He wants me also to buy new motor mounts and a few other things. Ive given him the idea of buying me a new timing chain too so ill see where that get me.
Honestly, any advice you think you could give me would be awesome, such as other cheap things I could convince my dad to buy *cheap as in under 150-200 total?* other parts that would be a good idea to put on while ill have the engine out.
I was thinking of a new cam but I dont know if it would have a negative impact on the integrity of the engine. Also any advice on that would be awesome too, I dont know **** about cam choice.
Im excited to get this car running again, I havent had a working car in a while.

Am I following this right? You pulled the lifters out with vise grips, realised that there was no oil, put the vise gripped lifters back in, added oil, and went for a spin.
Thats nice work right there.
