another broken valve stem

Every 3-4 month a valve stem breaks and I find a flat tire. They look like they just crack around the base n leak. I am using the shorty stems so its not curbs. Had to change one today.
Glad I got my maual tire change, I change so many.

Been thinking about having a shop do all 4 just for kicks. Maybe the stems they get will last longer? The ones in the CE air tool n tire section don't last very long, I guess.

any tire guys have any tips??

been this way for 2-3 years, so ya know I got new stems in a pack handy all the time.

do the stems get cut when you put them in?

give some from a tire shop a try, the ones your getting may be old or just not use a quality rubber in them.

if those don't last get some of the metal stems, the ones i have are around 14~16 years old & i have had no problems with them, but i guess i should think about some new ones now that i have
bragged on how long they have lasted

I wondered on that myself, I am just using the cheap $2 4way tool tool to put them on. They look ok but its right there they crack.

metal ones sound intresting, never seen them.

make me think about tubless motorcycles stems that are held in with nuts and don't bend around.

The valve stems should be lubed before you install them. Also, maybe its the brand, try another brand. And yes, the metal ones are very durable. (30 years in the tire industry, Akron, Ohio)

We will have to meet up this coming Summer, now that I'm in Monroe, Mi.
