Don't want to neglect the little things...

Little things? Hardly. It's the things you don't think about that could end up causing your car to fail and thereby end its existance. Here is what I mean...

I've been (we all have been) focusing on performance mods. What can we add or modify next to get a little more grunt out of the car? Hell, it's probably the thing that makes these cars the most fun to own.

I'm older than the majority of the readers of this forum. That's cool. Since I really like my car and want to make sure it stays around a while even after I give it up, I want to keep it running the best it can and keep it as clean as can be.

I'll cut to the chase...

What are the maintenance chores that are often over looked on our car that I should plan on doing to make sure the car stays on the road longer? I'm downright **** with the regular maintenance (tranny fluid, oil/filter, fuel filter, etc.). That's covered.

I'm thinking the rubber brake lines should be changed. These have a direct impact on the performance of the car. What else should I check/do to make sure the car keeps ticking along for another 15 years?

They basically recommend that rubber brake lines should be done every 3yrs/36k miles

Rubber is rubber :-)

Doing all the reg maintenance is the biggie that people today choose to ignore anymore.

Regular tuneups are also good to do every 2-3 yrs, more or less depending on how much you drive obvioulsy.

Might not even involve replacing parts if your wires arent burnt or ohm out good and you can regap plugs if they arent showing any signs of wear.

All rubber vacuum lines under the hood are a good one people forget about.

Also as our cars age, a good ole' TB cleaning and resetting the IAC and TPS(where appropriate) is a good thing too

Thanks Jeremy.

Say... do you know if there is a kit sold by Summit or Jegs that is all the vacuum hose replacements? Brakelines should be easy to find and I've even seen a thread about stainless steel replacement hoses.

Cheers!
